About Sofia

Sofia Quental joined L&N in 2020 and currently serves on the Board of Directors, representing Portugal within the network. With more than two decades of experience in national and international tax law, Sofia combines technical precision with a strong relational approach — a hallmark of both her professional style and her role within L&N.

She is a partner at Valadas Coriel & Associados in Lisbon, where she leads the tax team and advises high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and companies on tax planning, cross-border structuring, and compliance. Her practice includes deep expertise in the Portuguese Non-Habitual Resident (NHR) regime, tax litigation and arbitration, and the taxation of digital assets.

Sofia’s career began at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she spent nearly a decade working in Lisbon, Dublin, and Madrid. Her international experience and fluency in cross-border advisory make her a trusted reference for clients and peers navigating multi-jurisdictional challenges.

She is a tax arbitrator at CAAD (Arbitration Court of Portugal) and an active member of multiple professional associations, including the Portuguese and International Bar Associations, the Portuguese Tax Association, and IR Global (Tax and Private Clients sections).

Sofia brings not only legal and technical skills but also the warmth and responsiveness that define the L&N ethos. She is a bridge between Portugal and the broader network — reliable, collaborative, and future-focused.
